Three Elements of Isaac Profundo Bass Strings

Design: We design Isaac Profundo bass strings to vibrate freely and undistorted. Careful scaling, the unique design of our swages and appropriate graduated winding tensions along with special copper dispensing mechanisms go into the design of your strings. Individual attention is paid to each of your sets of Isaac Profundo Bass Strings. Whether your piano is small or large, its individual requirements will be carefully noted and your strings will be designed to bring out all of the fine qualities the piano you're working on was designed for.

Materials: The materials used in making bass strings are a carbon steel wire known as music wire and bare solid drawn copper wire. In both materials there are differences in quality. Most bass strings are made using steel wire that has been kinked repeatedly to straighten it for ease of handling during production taking out much of its springiness at the same time, thereby robbing it of a significant degree of its musical qualities.

Isaac Profundo bass strings are made using un-straightened music wire for maximum springiness which means maximum power at all volume levels. Most bass strings are made using soft drawn, eighth or quarter hard drawn copper. The strand of copper wire is flattened when wrapped around the steel wire core to make up a bass string. The softer the drawn copper used -- the more it is flattened by the steel core and the more distorted the tone such a string produces.

Isaac Profundo bass strings are made using semi hard drawn copper. Our research shows that the best strings ever made, the ones with the fullest tone over the longest period of years, were made using semi hard copper. The color of semi hard drawn copper is a shade more coppery than that of the softer copper wires.
